Every ranch lake was man-made. The
largest, Prairie Oaks Lake, was built in 1968 by the Soil
Conservation Service. It is 40 feet tall and is the first flood
control dam on Denton Creek. The main prairie lake is home to
our local duck population which trends to call-in migrating fowl
during the winter months. All of the lakes significantly reduce
erosion and support wildlife.
